lots of people are still talking about all of the ridiculous measures the city of new york is taking to “combat” subway fare evasion and correctly pointing out that it makes absolutely zero fiscal sense to spends hundreds of thousands on strictly enforcing a $2 fare, and I feel like they’re so so close to making an important realization.
when the government chooses not to fund social programs which help people and instead decides to spend money on cops or security cameras or other ways to penalize and criminalize people, it’s very very intentional. these people aren’t stupid, they can do simple math and realize that they will never make the money back and will in fact lose much much more. but that’s because the goal is not to make money, it’s to create a quiet, obedient, fearful populace by introducing the threat of police violence as an every day part of life constantly looming over your head.
it’s an investment. the city of new york is investing in control.
the cure to self-sabotage is to anchor yourself to the universal truth that you are worth it. you are worth the effort. you are worth the difficulty, you are worth the time, you are worth the consideration. there is never a point in your life, in time itself, that you are not worth it. return to this truth when you feel yourself slipping. do not let it go.
thank you to all the authors who wrote about beautiful women as liars, femme fatales, wicked witches and cruel, jealous goddesses for providing me with so many excellent role models to look up to and long for
author: this woman is a MONSTER because she prioritizes her OWN DESIRES above other people’s and SCORNS MEN and is HAPPY and she REJECTED ME
me: good for her is she single
you better watch out. you better watch out. you better watch out. YOU BETTER WATCH OUT.
